Hi there. I've created a chart in PowerPoint. When I select "Edit Data", it brings up an Excel sheet associated with data of the chart in PowerPoint. As far as I know, this Excel sheet does not have an actual location (it's titled "Chart in Microsoft Office PowerPoint" automatically), but is just a byproduct of the PowerPoint chart as far as I'm aware, but I could be wrong. Anyway, I've made my chart in PowerPoint, and I've found a code so that a value can be entered in a text box in PowerPoint that SHOULD change a value in the underlying Excel data. This is the code I'm working with:
When I enter the value in the textbox in PowerPoint (named TextBox1), the value does update in the underlying Excel sheet. However, the chart in PowerPoint does not change while I'm in presentation mode which is what I want it to do. If I exit presentation mode, the chart will then reflect the underlying data.
I've tried making the chart visible then invisible, switching between slides, refreshing the chart data, activating the chart, and a few other things probably, but the only thing that seems to work is putting in a line that says "exit slideshow mode, resume it, then go to the slide I was on" which is really clumsy and doesn't look very professional. I've had a similar problem in the past on another project (and this whole thing worked), but the data in the Excel sheet was linked in that case, and the Excel Workbook was saved on the computer. I've tried linking the data using the "Edit Links" button, but it's not clickable, and I'm guessing this is because there's no actual location to link it to.
Is it possible to have the chart in PowerPoint update in real time during slideshow mode without the data being linked? The reason I don't want to save a physical Workbook is because the PowerPoint is kind of a "template" that will be copied a lot, so I don't want to have to create a new Excel Workbook and relink it to the proper file every time it's copied if possible.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
