MS visio 2003 & Excel 2007 [ replacing shape strings in visio by a excel lookup table ]

I'm having troubles with Visio and Excel. I've tried several techniques, but can't get it work together somehow.
It doenst matter if the excel sheet is called as a file, or is 'integrated' in the visio drawing.

What I want to do ;

Replacing text strings in shapes from a certain layer within the VISIO drawing by looking up the same text string in a excel sheet. When it finds a match, replacing the text string in the VISIO shape with another text string found on the same row of the excel sheet.

As example I have included a .VSD file (visio) with a sample excel object in it (* Rename the file Drawing001.vsd.xls to=> Drawing001.vsd)
You see in the excel sheet 3 cells with ;
'A'
A1 : Symbol001
A2 : Symbol002
A3 : Symbol003

'C'
C1 : 2000.00
C2 : 2000.01
C3 : 2000.02

In the VISIO drawing I have 3 shapes with text.
Symbol001
Symbol002
Symbol003

Now I want to replace the strings of the VISIO shapes with the strings found in the excel sheet. As simple as that...
