Open specific excel file and log file information

Hi All I was wondering if somebody would be able to help me.

I am looking for a way of creating a file which will tracker/log the date of a file change location and the username who carried out this change. Basically the document I am tracking will be template which people will fill out, dependant on info they fill in this can be rejected or accepted or pending and will go into specific folders on a network dependant on the status. I would also like to hyperlink the file in the location section in the tracker/log file.

My question is it possible to do this with an excel file which opens in the background and updates then closes even though it is a template and how would you do it. I have attached the log file for your perusal

You can try using the workbook's .BuiltinDocumentProperties to pull out who and when saved the workbook.
