Opening another excel file while macros are running on another

Scenario:-
I am running macros on an excel file X
but then i want to open another file Y from a folder 'zz'. This i will open directly from the folder by double clicking the file (i do not want to use macros for this).
Is this possible?

Try opening a separate Excel instance (start Excel a second time from the Start menu or from a shortcut on your desktop) and then open the second file from within that second Excel window.
