macro to updates excel sheet on network path

Hey there guys!
If I have a spreadsheet open and want to run a macro that grabs a couple cells in the open spreadsheet and update a spreadsheet on our shared network that is closed how can I do this. Id someone can give me a sample code I can take it from there. Just never done this before and just need somewhere to start.
