Copying certain columns from one sheet to another based on the value on one column

    Hi all,

This is a bit tricky to explain so I will do my best - please let me know if you need further clarifications.

I have a master data sheet with the structure as below:
    exc2.png

I need a few of the columns (i.e. not all) to be copied to another (filter) sheet (starts from Row 20 say). The "notes" column should be fed back to the master list. If the condition changes in the master list, the entire row (including the data entered in notes) should be removed on the filter sheet.

The filter sheet structure is as below:
    exc1.png

I initially used Index, Small, Countif to pull data to the filter sheet but could not "input" into the cells as they all held formulas in order to copy to the new sheet.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Many thanks for your help,
    TR

    Thanks for your reply.

It needs to happen dynamically, so it shouldn't have to be intervened at all.

I suppose this does need Macro to work.

Can someone please have a look and pitch in?

    Many thanks,
    TR

    Hi,

You'll need to upload the workbook. Manually add the results you expect to see and explain how you produced them, e.g. what rules you've applied. No doubt we can then work something out.

Re: Copying certain columns from one sheet to another based on the value on one column

    Hi,

It seems to me that it would be better to concentrate on the master sheet and incorporating all functionality in there. If I understand it correctly the essential task seems to be

    1. To filter certain records and add notes
    2. Where a record is changed never include this in the filter.

Hence I don't see the point of a separate filter sheet. The functionality above can be automated by just including an additional columns marked say 'Changed' the first time a record is changed.

Your notes in the workbook seem to suggest that one of the criteria for filtering the list is by age but only where this has not been changed, and I'm assuming the other criteria you want to filter for is where there is no note - but if either of these are different then advise accordingly.

The process would be a macro would prompt you for the age and then the Master sheet would be filtered according to the rule above allowing you to enter notes. after entry the filter would be removed.
