Expanding picture to full size in Google Sheets

Previously I created an excel spreadsheet that would show a full sized stock chart when arrowing up and down a list of stock symbols. The pictures were linked to comments and would automatically pop up when the cell was selected. It worked perfectly for my needs.

I'm now trying to replicate this functionality in Google Sheets but i don't know how to automatically expand the stock chart when a stock symbol is selected.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Here's the google sheet I'm working with. As i arrow over cell C2, i would like the chart to fully expand and once i arrow off that cell the chart would disappear again. I have downloaded a firefox add on called Imagus which will expand the hyperlink within the sheet, but you first have to hover over the hyperlink with your mouse, then hover over the new hyperlink that appears again before it will actually bring up the chart. It works but it's clunky when comparing dozens of symbols. Ideally, i want to arrow over cell C2 and the chart will instantly appear.

The first thought that comes to mind is to use apps script with onSelectionChange(e), which runs when a user changes the selection in a spreadsheet.

Thanks Jan,

The thumbnails in the sheets reside in Column C. Would the onSelectionChange(e) be able to tell when i cursor over a cell in Column C and automatically run a script to expand the column size? The current workaround I settled on is i'm manually running a macro that expands the cells where the thumbnails reside and then run another macro to return back to thumbnail size when i'm done viewing the charts. It's not the most elegant solution but it would be pretty useful if those scripts could be automated somehow.
