Calculating hourly profit: Converting Duration (hours) to number

    Hi guys,

Currently using google sheets and I am not sure how to convert the time duration of 5:30 hours (see below) into a number so I can work out an hourly rate - without having to manually enter into the formula i.e =1000/5.5 each time.

    Time Start 19:00
    Time End 00:30
    Duration (hr) 05:30

I am sure there is a simple solution but have not been able to find it!

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

If start time in A1 and end time in A2, please try =MOD(A2-A1,1) and format cell as h:mm

    Thank you! that worked.

The only thing I did additionally to calculate the hourly rate was =B12/(B5*24) with B5 being the h:mm.

    Appreciate the assistance!
