Running total in power query with criterion

    Hi

Can someone explain or direct me to where I can find out how to create a running total in power query where there is a condition ,
    or by date.

I've attached a sheet containing 2 tables with what I'd like to achieve in power query. having watched one tutorial i have feeling it's not straight forward.
If someone can direct me to information on the 'why' and 'how' rather than just copying a set of instructions than would be a help.

    Richard.

Perhaps the linked video tutorial will help: Running totals by subcategory in Power Query!!
Consider taking the time to add to the reputation of everybody that has taken the time to respond to your query.

    Thank you JeteMc,

I have actually watched this one, in fact it's about the only one I've found.

Perhaps this will be of more help.
This video is produced by Mike Girvin an instructor at Highline College: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EP4L1FVcSUg
Below the video are some links to files. If you choose the "Download Excel Finished File" then you can see the M Code written for the RT and RTM columns
In the video the explanation for producing the Power Query table starts at the 5:18 mark.

Here is another video on grouping using power query that was recommended by youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvOX-Oy-Zdk

Thank you Jete. I'm actually a big fan of Mike Girvin, and yes it does work but A the use of the underscore to refer to the table isn't that gone into though
I know on MSPTDA 09 he does go into more detail.
I had not come across FranzSheikh and this was much more what I was after. I'll have a look at some of his other vidieos.

    Thanks again.
