explicite or optional optionalarguments in WSF

    Hi,
i allways see here people put in all the arguments into function
i am curious why is TRUE or FALSE exept of 1 or 0 or default?
secondally some function require all arguments.
    Why?

It depends on the coding of the function's signature; arguments declared as Optional need not be included.

For the OFFSET function, Help says rows and columns are required arguments, but your example in B1 shows otherwise. Ditto for the day argument in the DATE function in E1.

For the MATCH function in D1, the matchtype argument is optional.

For the EOMONTH Function is F1, the months argument is required.

For arguments declared as Boolean but passed as numbers, zero is coerced to False and any non-zero number is coerced to True.

1 difference between "digit (0 or 1)" and "" (empty)?
2 EOMONTH does not undestand "", but DATE does
Different programmers wrote code for these functions? They did not communicate?

My objective was to explain, not rationalize.

That's a behavior I can't explain. It has to do with de-referencing a range; I've seen an explanation by Aladin on MrE, but didn't manage to internalize it.

I don't have one handy. You might search MrE for dereference, dereferencing, and deferencing (a typo).

I did see ExcelXOR's blog post at https://excelxor.com/tag/dereference/
