ummmm....the question would be, WHY do you want to do this? what's the point in just gathering page numbers of a document? Point #6 in your referenced link shows you how to count the number of pages. so....it seems pretty clear to me what the code does.

but you say you don't want to open the documents. more than likely, VBA has the ability to see the properties of documents that are sitting in windows directories, however you would have to do some good research on the web to figure that one out. maybe someone else here has done it? I've never had a need.
