Mail Merge while retaining Macro Button

I'm mail merging documents (using a macro to save as individually named files) - this part is working fine, but the document has an email submit button so that the user can automatically sent the document back to a defined email address. When merging the files down they only save as .doc or .pdf and therefore loose the macro that allows the user to email the document back. Any ideas?
