I have 120 students. They need to be placed into 8 groups. Those groups need to be created based on their gender and their preference for whom they would like to be with ie Jane was asked and would prefer to be in a group with 1st Edith J, 2nd Fiona, 3rd Jenny M. How can I do this using Excel?
Welcome to the forum! You'll find you will get more takers if you can provide a sample workbook. Sample workbooks make seeing the issue more clearly, shows how you have the data organized, but most importantly keeps the person who is trying to help you from setting up the workbook manually (and possibly getting it wrong).
Please attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.
Remember to desensitize the data.
Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.
