Scatter Plot Diagram with 3 Variables

I have tried to draw scatter chart in attached sheet.

My objective is to see dots of content in column Customer Name plotted in chart area with DSO on axis X and Average Sales in axis Y.

Problem is right now dots reference to sequence number of content in column Customer Name in plot area.

    Please can you help?

Re: Scatter Plot Diagram with 3 Variables

Right now you're telling the chart that the X-axis is the Name range (which are all text strings), with two Y-axis ranges (Average Sale and DSO). Because the X-axis is a range of text strings, it's automatically error-correcting to the index number, which means they're stacking in order.

Run the Scatter Chart button on range B1:C545 and you should get what you want pretty much immediately (you will have to add the axis labels etc manually).

Such a chart wouldn't include any data from the "Name" range however, is that okay?

I do not know if this will create more confusion or not, but this looks like the exact same spreadsheet you posted previously, and almost the exact same first question: http://www.excelforum.com/excel-char...challange.html

Have you given up on the previous approach to the problem? Or what has changed that the previous discussion is no longer applicable?
