    Scatter Plot Challange

I have tried to draw scatter chart in attached sheet.

My objective is to see dots of content in column Customer Name plotted in chart area with DSO on axis X and Average Sales in axis Y.

Problem is right now dots reference to sequence number of content in column Customer Name & DSO in plot area.

    Please can you help?

PS: I have posted earler a query for the same issue. however this time I have attached corrected file.

    Thanks

    Re: Scatter Plot Challange

with DSO on axis X and Average Sales in axis Y.
When I open your file, I see two data series in the chart. The Average Sales series is using "name" as the x axis (because name is a column of text strings, a scatter plot will substitute count numbers for these values) and average sales as the Y axis. The DSO series is also using "name" as the x-axis and DSO as the Y axis values.

If you want it to use DSO for the x axis values and average sales as the y axis values (your profile says Excel 2003, but you have uploaded an xlsx file. I will assume 2003, though you may want to update your profile if you are using a newer version).
    1) Chart menu -> Source data to bring up the source data dialog.
    2) Select the "series" tab.
    3) Remove/delete the "DSO" series.
    4) Edit the Average Sales series and change the "x-axis" field so it points to the DSO column.

Hi - My MS Excel version says it is Excel 2013. I use Office 365 on my laptop.
    Please can you guide accordingly?

    Re: Scatter Plot Challange

Basically, I need one dot on the plot area to represent DSO (X Axis) and Average Sales (Y Axis).
Right there are 2 dots for DSO and average sales each

    Re: Scatter Plot Challange

This help file shows one way to access the "select data" dialog in 2013: https://support.office.com/en-us/art...1-3CC3FFB68036
If 2013 is still using the Ribbon, there should be a "select source" button on one of the chart groups.
You can right click on a chart and select "source data" from the context menu.

ONce you have pulled up the source data dialog, then you can follow steps 3 and 4 to delete the extra data series and edit the other data series to point to the correct ranges.

    Re: Scatter Plot Challange

Your solution truely works. Thanks a lot.
I only have one challange now. In the attached file When I put cursor on any of the blue dots, it shows e.g. Series "Customer Name Point 31" . I need to see respective customer's name instead of "Point 31". Can you please make this possible?

    Thanks in advance,

I do not know how to do that. These are just a few of the links I found by searching the internet for "excel chart point tool tip". You might see if these help or put something similar into your favorite internet search engine.
