Combining stacked and normal bars in a chart

    Hello,

I have data on the Italian Volleyball Superleague and I want to display it in a chart. My data is about how long every team currently competing in the Superleague has been played in the top league, how many trophies they won and how many of them were international trophies. My chart looks like this:

What I'd like to do is put the grey bar in front of the orange one, in order to clearly show which teams are the most successful and the proportion between domestic and international trophies. Is there a way to do it?

I think you should be able to do it using a "clustered and stacked" column chart: http://peltiertech.com/clustered-sta...mn-bar-charts/ This is a chart that really depends on how you arrange the data in the spreadsheet, so pay careful attention to how he arranges the data in the spreadsheet to get the clustered and stacked effect.

Thanks for the answer. Basically, there's no "clean" solution to this, I have to perform some "cheat" like the ones in your link, am I right?

I don't know what constitutes "clean" and "cheat[ing]". My impression of Jon's solutions is that they are pretty "clean", so, if Jon's solution does not meet your criteria for clean, then there probably is not a "clean" solution for this.

You could explore some third party charting applications, or Jon's own Peltier Tech Charts for Excel add-in (mentioned at the end of his tutorial). As far as native Excel solutions, this is the cleanest solution I have seen.

Yes, I didn't mean for "clean" and "cheat" to be synonyms of "good" and "bad". Let's say there's no automatic solution to my problem But, yes, Jon's idea is very nice!
