I have 40 pie chart categories, 6 currently have data. This is a living document and I'd like the categories that have no data be removed from the pie chart. It's a hot mess.
I've tried:
0%;;;
0%;-0%;;;
#,#00;;;
Changing my chart to return "N/A" or nothing for zero values
All of these only hide the 0% and not the category labels.

I think you will need to use either a dynamic range and possibly a separate formula range to return the actual data set you want plotted.
I would also respectfully suggest that you really ought to be using a different chart type. If you have more than 2, or at most 3, data points, a pie chart is almost certainly not the right choice.

As xlnitwit suggests you will need to create a dynamic range. I agree an alternative chart type would be better if you have that many slices.
