    Stacked chart--combining two bars

Hi, could use some help figuring this out. I am trying to combine teo bars in a stacked chart. I want "Fundraised" to be a part of "Revenue" so that there are only two bars total for each year. Here is the Excel sheet (also attached): https://larchechicago.box.com/s/vethbhguf5ijznde728pvnx1fk7s0c8k

Trying to understand your request. Are you seeking to combine the totals of Revenue + Fund-raised for each year, and the only two bars (in the chart) you want showing are the combined totals (of Revenue + Fund-raised) & the Events?
If this is what you're seeking, then this request is doable. Let us know. Thanks

    Re: Stacked chart--combining two bars

    Great...

    First Step:
    - Insert a new column and give it a proper name (in this example I created a new column for “B” and I called it Combined)
    - Now for each cell reference sum together the two fields for Revenue & Fundraised -- =SUM(C2+E2) drag cell down to the last entry

Second Step: Time to tweak the reports: perform this step for all related charts
    - Right click on the chart, when the menu appears click on Select Data
    - An applet will appear titled Select Data Source. Uncheck the following items under Legend Entries (Series)
    • Revenue
    • Fundraised

    - Next click on the ADD button.
    - Another applet will appear titled Edit Series.
    • Click in the field under Series name, then click on the column title you just created (in this example I clicked on the Combined title.) (in this example, I highlighted the cells under Combined {cells B2: B17}). [i]the formulas in the field should read =Sheet2!$B$1[i]
    • Next click in the field under Series values, then highlight the cell range for the new column you created (in this example I highlighted the cells under Combined {cells B2: B17}). [i]the formulas in the field should read =Sheet2!$B$2:$B$17[i]

    - Click the OK button when done (this will close the above applet and bring you back to the Select Data Source applet.

    Third Step:
    - In the Select Data Source (on the right-hand side), under Horizontal (Category) Axis Labels, click the EDIT button.
    • Another applet will appear titled Axis Label. click in the field below Axis Label Range, then select the cell range for Fiscal Year. [i]The formulas in the field should read =Sheet2!$A$2:$A$17[i]

    - Click the OK button when done (this will close the above applet and bring you back to the Select Data Source applet.
    - Click the OK button to close the Select Data Source applet.

    Fourth Step:
    - Manually rename the chart title to reflect the new settings.

Great! Perhaps I didn't make it clear that I was hoping the combined bar would be comprised of two different colors to show the way that two numbers were being added into the one bar. Is it possible to do that? (i.e. "Revenue" and "Fundraised" will be combined into one bar but each have its own color for each year. Does that make sense?

Just change the chart format to stacked - chart type is on the data ribbon under chart tools - design.

When I change to stacked, it combines all three rows of data. I just want Revenue and Fundraising combined (with different colors), while Expenses is its own bar next to each combined bar for each year.

At the risk of creating more confusion, it really sounds to me like you want a "clustered and stacked" bar chart. Here's the tutorial I prefer for creating such a chart: https://peltiertech.com/clustered-st...mn-bar-charts/ I note that the chart itself is a basic stacked bar chart, and that the bulk of the work to make it a clustered and stacked bar chart is in arranging the data in the spreadsheet.
