in the pivot table I want to show all non-cash (which would be debit, credit, check) how can I do this? please help? should it be something like calculated fields?

To attach an Excel file to your post,
    • desensitize data
    • remeber that your example should reflect structure and type of data
    • click Go Advanced,
    • scroll down until you see Manage Attachments,
    • click that and select Browse,
    • select your file and click Open,
    • click Upload and you will see your attachment below Upload Files from a website
    • click Close this window,
    • click Submit reply

After that you should see attachment in your post

    Re: analyze in pivot table

sory for the late reply, it cost me a lot to edit anything oout becaue I don't know much about excel. here is a sample that I edit out. In the 'sales summary' sheet, there is a column for 'cash' 'credit card' credit and cash' chekc' I want another field to add all of the non-cash. Please provide me with specific instructions so I can follow and do it myself on the my real sheet.

Do you mean you just want to filter the display to only show non cash?

Then just add VIA as a filter rather than a column and adjust the filter to suit.

Turn ON Grand Total for rows and columns then do post#4 and you should see something like this

    filterPT.jpg

this is a sum of all non-cash values

    Re: analyze in pivot table

You want the grand total - cash which equals non-cash transactions? These are the opposite of each other.

Just set the filters for what you want to see. The total will be shown in the Grand Total row underneath the column heading.

I want the totals for "credit card" + "debit card" +"checks" + "credit and cash" ( and leave out cash).

    Re: analyze in pivot table

Because there is Calculated Item: NonCash and after add that CI you cannot group dates. Also you cannot add Calculated Item(s) if PivotTable is grouped. You need to ungroup then add CI.

But you can read this or this and try
