    Dynamic Pie Chart Labels

    Hi,

I'm creating several pie charts that are linked to data that is sorted by a certain metric that can tend to move around.
The data behind my pie charts are dynamic, but need help with a few things:
    1) is it possible to make labels dynamic as well? (i have forced labels to sit in a certain spot because these pie charts are small, but if the data shifts, the label won't shift to reflect the new data, etc.)
    2) is it possible to pre-set a colour scheme for the pie charts?

    Thank you

    Re: Dynamic Pie Chart Labels

The answer to both questions is yes, but we can do a much better job with a sample workbook.

Another question I have is about the metric tat can "move around." Does this mean that sometimes you might have 3 categories and other times not-3 categories?

Attach a sample workbook (not a picture or pasted copy). Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.
One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.

    Re: Dynamic Pie Chart Labels

    Hi,

What you could do, is make the series names dynamic and use them as data labels.
Double click the data labels. In the Format Data Labels menu, go to Label Options and select only "Series Name". This way the data labels will show only the values for the series names. Then, you can make the series name whatever you like - they can even refer to completely different cells outside of your data set. You'll just need to go to Select Data and for each series to manually select the series name.

    Hope this helps!
