    Line chart

    Hi All

    USING EXCEL 2007

Sorry, I'm sure this is very simple. I am plotting BP readings and have two questions:
    1. I want the lines to have circles at each point with the reading IN the circle (not beside the marker which I can do)
    2. I want another line on the horizontal axis to show the data from column O

    TIA

    Re: Line chart

    1. If you know how to put a data label with the value beside it, then obtaining this effect should be as simple as moving the data label to center and formatting the data series so that its marker type is a large circle with no fill. Can I assume that you know how to assign a center position to the data label? How to format the data series with a circle for the marker?

    2. Exactly what is in column O -- text or number (formatted as fraction)? Exactly what should this look like on the chart?

    Hi MrShorty
    Thanks for your reply.
    1. I think I can do this now with your help/
    2. Column O is a number field with the following formula =ROUND(L3,0)&"/"&ROUND(M3,0) This is because the results of columns L and M are derived as an average of the three BP readings, and therefore have many decimal points. I want the data in column O to appear in the chart either above or below the time and date on the x axis. I have tried to do this by Chart tools>Design>Select Data and editing the horizontal axis, which currently has =Sheet1!$A$3:$B$15 in it, but I can't get it to work.

    Re: Line chart

For 1, exactly what help do you need? If you are unsure how to position the data label, this tutorial seems pretty good at describing how to access the format data labels dialog(s):https://www.lifewire.com/data-series...labels-3123411
If you are unsure how to change the size and shape and other options for the data marker, the answer to this Q&A seems to explain pretty well: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...c-c4b8ee7471af

For 2) So column O is text and you want to add it to the axis as another label.
You are currently using a multi level category axis for the horizontal axis. The easiest way to add the text in column O might be to add it as another level to the category axis labels. Of course, for a multi-level category axis, all of the levels need to be in adjacent columns. Would you be allowed to move column O so it is between the existing columns B and C, then extend the category axis definition to include the new column C?
