Creating a clustered column chart with two axes.

    Hi all,

I have been trying to create a chart to show comparison between the present and future values of two data using columns.
The difference in amounts is huge, hence I hope to show the difference for both by

    1) using the left and right vertical axes
    2) comparing the columns side by side

    Tried many ways but either the columns are stacked or comparing "1 & A and 2 & B" instead of "1 & 2 and A & B".
    Sorry for the bad description.

    Attached is the file.

I'm not sure I understand exactly what you are wanting. It appears that you want 2 data series on the primary axis and 2 data series on the secondary axis -- which means a total of 4 data series. Your current chart, however, only has two data series. Here's what I tried as a first guess for what you want:

    1) Select E5:E6 and move these data down into E7 and E8. The columns for these data points disappear from the chart.
    2) Select the chart and extend the chart source data so that it includes rows 7 and 8. The columns that disappeared reappear in a different color.
    3) Select one of the "lump sum" data series/columns -> format series -> Secondary axis. Repeat for the other "lump sum" data series.

Is that close to what you are looking for?

    Hi,
Thanks! This is what I need.
But I can't understand the logic behind. Mind explaining a bit more?

    1) If I were to start afresh using the table, how should I chart it the way u mentioned?

    2) If I have more data, I will have many more data series?
