How to create a pivot table/chart with both daily totals and running totals

I've been trying for a couple of days to get a pivot table to work and it's driving me mad, if anyone can help that would be greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to create a pivot table to analyse some betting strategies I've been working on.
The plan is to have a pivot-chart which shows my daily profit(or loss) for each strategy along with the running total, similar to the below.
    chart.PNG
As well as daily, i need to be able to 'zoom out' as such and view this chart with month by month data, but when I group the date field to months & years the running totals mess up and they start fresh for each year.

If it's possible i'd like to be able to break this down into the different categories (iwac/lshot/nap/std) as the current general overview is calculated based on 1 point(or£) per selection, but ideally I would like to be able to assign a different point(£) value to each category. This would need to be calculated for each selection in order for the charts to display the correct values and I have absolutely no idea where to start with this.

I'd also like to be able to filter the pivot table based on the odds of the selections (i.e. over 8) so that I can analyse the performance of each category but currently the only way I can do that is by manually deselecting the odds that I don't want to include which is incredibly time consuming.

I'm using Excel 2013 if that makes a difference to anything and i've attached a sample of my workbook.

    Any help is truly appreciated.

    Thanks for reading

Re: Pivot Tables are giving me a headache

I've managed to get the chart to display how I would like by using columns for the daily returns and a line for the running total.
I'm now having a couple of other issues:
When I add or remove categories the chart style changes, is there a way to 'fix' the style?
When I try to group the dates into Months & years to get a broader view of the returns, the running totals reset for each year which skews the results. I've tried changing the base field to years and that completely messed up the results.
I've attached my updated workbook, one sheet shows the daily table/chart and another with the running total over months displaying skewed data.

    any suggestions appreciated

    thanks
