    Radar Chart

Ok, here goes - I am using Radar charts on Excel quite a bit and generally there are 4 or more series of data to compare. This is done with no problems but when I get down to fewer series of data the radar chart is unable to format into a relevant shape.

For example with 4 series of data I get a square, with 8 an octagon, 10 a decagon etc.

When I get down to 2 or 1 series of data I would like the radar chart to format into a circle, with 100% being the maximum value and the 80% (for example) the achieved value shown as a circle within a circle.

I have attached a spreadsheet to help demonstrate. The lovely drawing is all my creation

Is this possible and if so how do I go about getting the radar chart to act as I require?

    Many thanks

    Dan

To get a circle out of a radar chart you need to plot many more data points, 360 should do it.

I think you need to rethink your chart choice if you have series with only 1 or 2 points.

    Thanks

lol yeah I could always use 360 different cells and plot them all at 80% to make the circle but I was hoping I could get Excel to recognise when im using 1 or 2 items of data to format the radar chart in a particular way but when there are 3 or more it can revert to its standard formatting.

For 3 and above it works fine and 90% of the time it would be 3+ so I would like to stick with the radar charts if i can some how make it possible.

I was thinking maybe using some sort of rule that said if the series is 1 or 2 then determine the value (say 80%) and plot 80% along the y-axis (+ and -)and then intersect the x-axis equally (+ and -) apart at 80% if that makes sense? So the graph would plot a circle at x8,y8, x-8,y-8?

The chart will not do the work for you, you need to use cells to plot the extra information.

    Thumbs up

    That should do it.

I will use that principle and see if I can get it looking as required.

    Thanks for your help.
