Easy way to reference a Pivot Table without using GETPIVOTDATA

    Hi,

I find the getpivot data formulas infuriating and decrease model transparency.

However changing the pivot table kills the links if you try and just link the cells?

Does anybody have a better way of pulling data?

    Thanks

I think the getpivots are fairly straightforward but you could also use index match or sumifs, but you will need likely need all of the data neede in the getpivot.

Thanks, so the problem with the index match or sumifs is that they fail if you rearrange the pivot they break.

The issue with GETPIVOT is that though the smart folks like you will understand it, a lot of people will be scared off by it....but ignoring that..

I do not have any idea how to drag across the getpivot formula. For example if you reference 2012 data, and want to drag the formula to the left,
it is still referenced to 2012!!! Do you know how to change this because I find replacing the "2012" text in the formula with a reference to a collumn header that says 2012 will not work

    THanks

If it is not easy for you then apply the normal formula with the source data and pull the required info.

Is 2012 the name of a data field, or an item in a row/column field? If it's row or column, a simple cell reference such as A1 should work but if it's a data field you have to use ""&A1 in the formula.
