how to combine a stacked and Comparison chart with superimposed over bars

I'm trying to make quite a complicated graph and want to superimposed some of the columns over the other columns in a comparison bar chart

I can do this with just 1 value as i can make that a line chart and have no line just a wide marker and so it appears like a bar graph over the other columns - this works OK

BUT now I want to do the same thing to a number of columns and if i change to a line chart format they all come over the same point and tend to over lap each other - rather than be over the specific column

for each X-Axis element , there are in my example 7 data elements - called col1,2,3,4,5 (actually we have about 12) - we want column 3 to overlap column 2 , column 5 over column 3, column 7 over column 4 etc

as its difficult to explain , i have tried to explain in a graph and show the result just on one set - but i do need the example across all the X-Axis elements

Perhaps you may plot the superimposed columns on a secondary axis and use either no fill or a transparency with vivid borders - I have made a sample.

Thanks very much for your replies, worked with the X-Y scatter - off to apply
