building a stats. from pivot table

    Hi all

I am new to pivot tables and charts and kind of struggle to build what I need....
I heard that the best is to use pivot tables but no clue how to do it I have tried but no luck....

How can I see the following information in chart?
-Non con close out time by person- so who is failing to close out on time in this case is completion date
-Frequency of reports by area/ shift
-Number of reports by month, split into critical/major/minor
-Main reasons for reports so trend of type of record

I would appreciate your help as I don't know what I'm doing....

    Thank You
    Dan

    Hi,

I'm attaching a starter Pivot Table for you to play with. Unfortunately there is no easy way to describe how to use a PT you just need to experiment.

In general though you can drag fields around within the pivot table and from the fields shown above the main table, and of course you can use the PT File list window to choose and position fields for analysis.

Difficult to comment without seeing the workbook. Attach it so that we can see what you've done. When you say the chart has disappeared, do you mean the Pivot Table has disappeared? Unless you've managed to select the whole chart and then actively chosen to delete it it will still be there.

As I said you need to play around by dragging and dropping various fields to various Row/Column positions to see the effect. This requires a certain amount of study and there are numerous youtube examples out there to show you, just google excel pivot tables.
