    Averages using multiple criteria

    I am trying to determine the average TAT for projects that meet multiple criteria:

    Column A = Completion Date
    Column B = Project Status
    Column C = TAT

    I'm trying to determine the average TAT for a set of projects that have a project status of "complete" that fall within a particular quarter.

    I've tried Averageifs but keep getting errors when I try to define the date range.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Barry

    It would help if you posted a sample sheet to work with. How are you defining the date? The syntax needs to be ">01/01/2014"

    with the " marks...

    Re: Averages using multiple criteria

    =AVERAGEIFS(Sheet1!J:J,Sheet1!I:I,"=complete",Sheet1!B:B,">2/1/14")
    This is what I started with but I can not figure out how to add in the <2/28/2014 so that I get the average between the 2 dates without getting an error.

    Try this (untested, 'cos I haven't attempted to reproduce your sheet)

    =AVERAGEIFS(Sheet1!J:J,Sheet1!I:I,"=complete",Sheet1!B:B,">2/1/14",Sheet1!B:B"<2/28/14")

    Re: Averages using multiple criteria

    OK, so as suggested back in post 2, can you attach an Excel sheet?

    Re: Averages using multiple criteria

    Is it as simple as changing "<2/28/14") to "<2/28/2014")

    Re: Averages using multiple criteria

    Comma is missing: Sheet1!B:B"<2/28/14") should be Sheet1!B:B,"<2/28/14")

    Re: Averages using multiple criteria

    I'm guessing that you want to include the entire month.

    I think it's easier/better to use cells to hold the criteria.

    A1 = complete
    B1 = 2/1/2014
    C1 = 2/28/2014

    =AVERAGEIFS(Sheet1!J:J,Sheet1!I:I,A1,Sheet1!B:B,">="&B1,Sheet1!B:B,"<="&C1)
