Conditional format if lower than cell adjacent

    Hi

    Hopefully you can help
I have a spreadsheet with grades in one column and grades in the second column
I want to first column to change if the grade is lower than the adjacent cell.
My grades are A1,A2,A3,B1,B2,B3 etc down to U and the same with the other column.
So if in column 1 a cell = B3, but in column 2 it is B2 or higher I want the cell in column 1 to go red

    Can you help?
    Thanks in advance much appreciated.

Here's one way: using a named range for a complete list of your grades (you'll have to complete the list in DESCENDING order), but the Named range will extend ayutomatically to cover the additions)

    Hi

Can I just ask - is there anything i can add so that cells that are blank do not go red.

You have me baffled. On the sheet that is attached here, the conditional formatting applies from cells A1 to A50. Only the two cells that should be red, are red. Can you post an example showing the problem?

    Sorry

Clearly my fault - bit of a rookie mistake.
