Data bar conditional formatting based as expiration date

    Hi guys,

I work in logistic department and I would like to create an excel file where the cells are progressively filled (as data bar conditional formatting) in reference to the expiration date. I have set data bar conditional formatting on the cell based on date but excel doesn't recognise the date.

    I try to explain better:
I have in A1 the name of goods that I ordered. The supplier tells me that this item will be ready for pickup on July 19th. So I write in B1 July 19th. Now, based on date of the day (for example June 19th) I want that B1 will be filled progressively when the expiration date is closing (think a loading bar).

    Is it possible?

    Thank you very much
    Ciao
    Mirko

i would put a formula into another cell and use that for conditional formatting
Then use the number of days as your scale for the gradient / fill amount

=maxdays you want to show - (Date cell - Today() )
will give the number of days and then you can scale the cell to show a gradient

there maybe better ways of doing this - as i'm not an expert at the gradient icons
    just an idea

see example , i have showed icon only and used the range
    Number - min 1
    Number - max 90
    so works across 90 days
change the conditional format to the number of days you want
    90-(b2-today())
using 90 days as an example
