    Question Help with Advanced Filtering

I am filtering a real estate listing worksheet. The column headings are: listed, appraisal, price, square feet, area, address, bed, bath, heat, built, age, and pool.

I need to know what to type in for advanced filtering to narrow my data down to the properties that have an asking price of less than 70 dollars per square foot.

    Muchas gracias!

Any chance you could upload a sample workbook?

Click on GO ADVANCED and use the paperclip icon to open the upload window.
If posting code please use code tags, see here.

    Re: Help with Advanced Filtering

I think the easiest way to approach this would to copy this simple formula down column M starting in row 8.
    Formula: copy to clipboard

Then add an appropriate header in M7, eg $/SqFt.

Now you can use that column in advanced filter with the criteria <70 to narrow down the properties as you want.

Is there any other possible way with just using the columns I have. While that solution seemed probable, I tried doing it and it ends up showing no results for the criteria i have entered

    Re: Help with Advanced Filtering

Did you expand the data range to include column M?

There is a way to do it without adding an extra column but it's kind of 'non-standard'.

This is how you would do it.

1 Put this formula in a cell, eg O2.

    Formula: copy to clipboard
Please Login or Register to view this content.

2 Goto conditional formatting, select the data range, currently A7:L72.

    3 Set/select the criteria range as O1:O2.

    Re: Help with Advanced Filtering

    in your example
you have a space infront of "AGE" in the header which is making your advanced filter not working properly

anyway i translated norie's helper column solution and i did his second solution (before i posted the file) of using a formula to drive the filter

ill post the file now before he makes another solution before he post anything else

Okay wow, I fixed the space before the a in Age, and tried filtering and it comes up with zero results even with just using the original conditions I have on there, and not adding the M column... ugh what's going on!
