Count cells in range that match corresponding cell, and meet an additional criteria.

Hi,
I have a spreadsheet with pupil's answers to a number of multiple-choice questions (answered as: "A", "B", "C", or "D"). I need to count the number of correct answers (answers are stored in corresponding range) from questions which have a certain topic code. e.g. for pupil 1, how many correct answers did they get for questions with a topic code "CO1"? I have attached the spreadsheet (real names deleted).

=SUMPRODUCT(($C5:$T5=$C$3:$T$3)*($C$2:$T$2=U$2))
