How to make multiple cells change color based on one cell's text.

I work for a medical helicopter dispatch center and we are currently attempting to make s status dashboard of all our aircraft. When they call us to mark up they advise us they are either red, yellow, or green for weather. My plan is to place a drop-down list in a cell with the different weather statuses and if green were selected for example it would make a large area turn green. So if E32 = "green" then A1:I49 would fill in green. I've been googling and combing through forms for the past 5 hours with zero luck.

That got me closer to where I want to be. I have attached the excel sheet to make it a little easier. In E32 there is a drop down with Green, yellow, red, and out of service. I currently have a conditional formatting rule as =A1:I49=E32. The only issue is the other cells that have text in it are not being colored in.

@Sixthsense I greatly appreciate your help. I've got one more issue now and after that, I believe I'll be set for this project. I've reattached my excel document. All the rules have been added and if you select a color it seems to be working fine, The problem arises when you try to switch from one color to another. If you select "green" all the cells turn green as they are supposed to however if you switch to "Yellow" the cells that have text in them will change to yellow however the cells without text stay green.
