Compare 2 columns and give % difference

    Hello!

I need a function that will be able to compare Row D (Offer) to Row C (Bid) and highlight Row D (green) if that number is lower than Row C (Row C > Row D = highlight Row D green).

Once that is done, I would like Row E to display the percentage difference between Row C and D.

NOTE: All numbers are decimals. Please see the attached spreadsheet. Thank you in advance for your help!! :-)

A bit rude and demanding, but conditional formats are what you are looking for in regards to the first stage: https://exceljet.net/conditional-for...-with-formulas

For the second stage, a simple formula dividing the bid by the offer or the offer by the bid will suffice, depending on which one you want to express as a percentage of the other.
Design everything to be as simple as possible, but no simpler.

    Yeah, conditional formatting will do.

For your column E, difference based against bid or offer.

In this spreadsheet this is based between the difference against the bid.

    Hope this helps.

Excuse me? There was nothing with regard to my statement that was in the least bit rude or demanding. I think you're reaching for something there buddy!

Sorry to bother, but when I copy NEW data into the cells (replacing the old data), the comparison still works (green highlight), however the percentage difference (Row D) does not. What would I need to adjust in order to get the percentages working on new data. Seems like the formula is still there and operational.

    Thank you again!

It was the "I need this. Once you've done that for me, I need this" that I found rude and demanding, especially when you provided no evidence of trying yourself. But that's just my opinion, and it's easily ignored

As for the formulas, you should either

    a) check that automatic calculation is turned on - Ribbon > Formulas > Calculation Options > Automatic
    b) leave it in manual calculation, and press F9 to calculate the workbook (or SHIFT + F9 to calculate the worksheet)

That should solve the problem of formula results not updating.

Percentage Difference in Col E, not in Col D
