    Reference a closed workbook, change sumifs to sumproduct

    Hi all,
    Please excuse if someone has already asked this question however from what I’ve searched I couldn’t understand the answers.

    I’m currently using a Sumifs to reference a workbook Which works perfectly well when the workbook is open but obviously it does not work when closed and I have been told that some product will do the job.

    So can anyone tell me if this is correct or is there a better way to reference a closed workbook.
    My formula is currently as follows:

    =SUMIFS('Z:\PA Distribution\Logs Machined\Dist P1801-P1810\[Data Ops Progress - Radio P1801-P1810.xlsx]ACBC - Paper'!$V:$V, 'Z:\PA Distribution\Logs Machined\Dist P1801-P1810\[Data Ops Progress - Radio P1801-P1810.xlsx]ACBC - Paper'!$A:$A, "="&"P1804", 'Z:\PA Distribution\Logs Machined\Dist P1801-P1810\[Data Ops Progress - Radio P1801-P1810.xlsx]ACBC - Paper'!$X:$X, ">="&$C$3,'Z:\PA Distribution\Logs Machined\Dist P1801-P1810\[Data Ops Progress - Radio P1801-P1810.xlsx]ACBC - Paper'!$X:$X, "<="&$C$4)

    Hi,

    Checkout this link to a similar post here 3 years ago
    https://www.excelforum.com/excel-for...-workbook.html

    It deals with a function called SUMPRODUCT, not the some product you mention in the OP

    Yes I mentioned SUMPRODUCT in my subject line and in the body of my post but as I was dictating to my iPhone it wrote some product as apposed to SUMPRODUCT but I thought that bit was obvious and I did mention in my post that I had read the other posts on the subject but didn’t understand them however I will read what you have suggested and see if it helps

    I believe that the following SUMPRODUCT function is a translation of the sum range and three criteria ranges that were in the SUMIFS function:

    I hope that this is helpful, however as I don't have any expertise on extracting data from closed workbooks, this will likely be as much as I can help.
