    Re: IF formula

Your date in A3 is text and not a number (formate as a date)
reenter it as a date and you should be fine.

    Re: IF formula

The way you can tell it is a "date" but actually text which looks like a date is enter this formula in an empty cell =ISNUMBER(A3) If it returns FALSE then it is text and not a number.
Remember, dates are numbers that excel formats to look like a date. 01/14/2021 is simply 44210 as a number - the number of days since 1/1/1900 through that date.

    Re: IF formula

How exactly did you do it? You first changed formatting to date and then coppied the date there again?

    Re: IF formula

I just clicked in the cell and retyped 1/14/21 and hit enter and it corrected.
If you have a batch of cells that are text and you want them as number, highlight the area (column or group of cells) and go to the data tab then text to columns then just hit finish and they'll all covert to numbers.

    Re: IF formula

highlight the area you want and format to general, that usually takes care of the formatting you'll need.
you can try the hint I gave you in post #7.
