Angry Formula to copy formula in another cell but with a different reference in the formula

    Hi All,

    Hopefully you can help.

I currently have formula that are linked to other worksheets within my workbook and I want to be able to get some secondary information from that formula.

So for example i currently have a formula which is linked to a specific cell in another sheet

    ='P01'$K$45

    This is in cell F57

What I would like to do is have cell I45 reference the above formula but change the letter to $J$45.

    Is this possible?

    TIA

    Sam

Is there some relationship between the cells where the formulae would reside? It seems a bit random to have a formula in cells F57 and in cell I45. Are those the only two cells where you would want the formula?

Re: Formula to copy formula in another cell but with a different reference in the formula

    Hi Pete,

    Thanks for your response.

    That should be I57, sorry.

I work for a building company and we have a bill of quantities that we link each item to a build up sheet which has a rate.

What we would like to do is be able to have a hidden set of columns where the reference is linked to a the materials and labour if that makes sense.

So we would have the following.

Bill Item 1 - Roof Type 1 - Quantity, Rate (='P01'!$K$45), Total. Material Rate (='P01'!$K$24), Labour Rate (='P01'!$K$39)

The bills can be very long so I need the Material Rate/Labour rate to be automatic based on the first formula. Note: The Material and labour rate are always the same reference whatever sheet they are on.

    Thanks.

It would help if you attached a sample Excel workbook.

To do this, click on Go Advanced (below the Edit Window) while you are composing a reply, then scroll down to and click on Manage Attachments and the Upload window will open. Click on Browse and navigate to (and double-click) the file icon that you want to attach, then click on Upload and then on Close this Window to return to the Edit window. When you have finished composing your post, click on Submit Post.

Do not try to use the Paperclip icon for attachments, as it does not work on this forum.

    Hope this helps.

    Pete

P.S. the same instructions are also given in the yellow banner at the top of the screen.
