Counting value in a cell if a cell in the same row but a different column has a set value

Hi guys,

New to lots of excel so please bare with me.

I have a spreadsheet to monitor if and when staff have completed various different training courses.

There are 2 categories of staff member and one of the categories is not required to complete one of the training courses. I am trying to create a formula to count which of the staff from the category haven't completed the training. I have attempted to use COUNTIFS but it returns a count of zero. I need the formula to check whether a cell in a column has a certain value and then, if it does, does a cell from the same row in a different column have a certain date or a blank value and count the total of these that match. So in the screenshot attached, if Column D has the value 'SAP', it will need to check if column N has a date within 90 days or if it is blank and then give me a total so I know how many to book on the course next time.

I hope this makes sense.

A good sample workbook has just 10-20 rows of representative data that has been desensitised. The sample layout accurately matches that of your real data. It also has expected results mocked up, worked examples where required, relevant cells highlighted and a few explanatory notes.
