info from one sheet to another

    Good day,

I'm hoping the hive mind can come to my rescue here.

I am creating a stock sheet and need to pull information from one sheet to another so that if the information changes on one sheet, that will reflect on the main sheet.

I would like the formula to look at the "inventory ID" column to find the ID in the following sheet and display the corresponding "total" in the designated cell.

So ID ITS001 will show 10 in the "Kingston (A)" ITS001 cell.

    Many thanks in advance all

    Welcome to the forum.

There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook (yellow banner: HOW TO ATTACH YOUR SAMPLE WORKBOOK). Screenshots are of little practical use as we cannot manipulate them.

A good sample workbook has just 10-20 rows of representative data that has been desensitised. The sample layout accurately matches that of your real data. It also has expected results mocked up, worked examples where required, relevant cells highlighted and a few explanatory notes.

Is the way I've formed my question incorrect?

    Yes, but read my comment:

So we need you to attach the workbook (desensitised), not a picture of it.

I'll take a look once you've attached the sample workbook.

Re: info from one sheet to another

How should Excel know that it needs to take the value from the first row? Or is it in fact the TOTALS row that matters?

    Maybe this in D6?

    =XLOOKUP([@[Inventory ID]],'Building Assets Demo'!$C$5:$K$5,'Building Assets Demo'!$C$15:$K$15,"Not Found",0,1)

Re: info from one sheet to another

    That works thank you.

What I would like though is that excel looks down the Inventory ID data "ITS001 etc" in the Total Assets sheet, finds a matching item in the Building Assets sheet and then finds the number under "Total" and displays that in the Total assets sheet.

I really hope that makes sense

Massive thank you for all your help so far, massively appreciated.
