    Running Percentage Formula

    Hi Guys,

i'm working on a excel file that will calculate a weight based on a daily & overall progress
of work. I used the simple if function but i'm not getting the exact totals once the work
    is 100% completed.

I know its a rather simple calculation, but my math is just average :-)

my data example is shown below:

Day Progress Latest Progress Overall Daily Ton Overall Ton My Formula

    Day 1 15% 15% 0.80 0.80 0.80
    Day 2 15% 30% 0.90 1.70 0.85
    Day 3 30% 60% 1.80 3.50 1.75
    Day 4 40% 100% 1.50 5.00 2.00

the overall total s/b 5.00 tons only, the formula i made has a cumulative of 5.40 tons.

any assistance would greatly be appreciated.

    i also attached the file.

    Thanks,

    Re: Running Percentage Formula

Your initial logic is fine, but when you have running total, and are not meeting the daily targets, then the "computation" total will always be higher than the sum of the daily targets (and your formula should be =(1-A3/B3)*C3+H2 )
