help to sort this out

Hello,

I have a series of data that I have complied, this data comes straight from another application.
I want to total the weight of each material (without sorting) in a new cell. How would I set this up.
I have set up a filter and insert a subtotal function (after filtering) in another cell. however when I un-filter I get the total weight of all the different materials, as if I only inserted the sum function.

Difficult to say from that picture (attach a sample workbook instead), but you can probably use SUMIF instead of SUBTOTAL or SUM.
