    Text to general

    Hi
I have a load of cells that are linked. It appears many are linked to cells that are formatted as text (I was unaware of this). As a result the linked cell shows the formula rather than the value of that linked cell. So far the only way I have been able to correct this is by highlighting linked cell, select format and choose general format. Then though I have to double click in the actual cell and press enter for it to change to the linked value.
Is there an easier/quicker way of getting the values showing in the linked cells rather than the formulas?
    Thanks

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

After formatting the cells as general, select those cells, click on the Data ribbon, select Text to Columns, select Fixed Width, click Finish. This works for me.

If you attach a sample of your workbook it will be easier to find a solution. Remember to remove/replace sensitive data before uploading the file. Look here if you need help with attachments:
