I'm currently using Excel 2003 (will be upgrading to 2013 in the near future) that seems to have an issues locating a specific job number in my spreadsheet.
Allow me to explain:
The worksheet has well over 1,000 rows of jobs that have been completed, of which the majority are hidden rows with the exception of a couple hundred for quick reference.
Every now and again, I need to locate the date of a specific job that I know precedes the unhidden rows. I thought, simply hitting CTRL F, enter the job name, and voila, excel should automatically take me to that specified job so i may take note of that particular date. But this doesn't seem to be the case. So I thought, well, maybe if I unhide all of the hidden rows and then perform the search with the built-in search feature it should work. Think again, it doesn't. And to make matters worse, Excel 2003 oddly quits from being able to scroll with the wheel on the mouse. Now everything is frozen. Resulting only in loss in time and effort; not to mention that i now have to completely close out the worksheet, reopen it and continue from where i left off. This has been the case for some time now.
If anyone has ever encountered this glitch and found a resolution, please inform me. Thank you!
Also, note, I've made personal efforts to create a VBA search to alleviate my problem, but others in the community have advised against it, simply on the premises that the built-in search feature is, "as good as it gets."
Am I only resolved to upgrading to excel 2013 in hopes that my problem will go away, or is there a sound solution?
Please, let me know.
