When I Click 'Enable Editing' on Excel document, scroll buttons disappear

Using Excel 2010, when I open a document, scroll bars are visible (both horizontal and vertical). But when I click on the 'Enable Editing' button, both scroll buttons disappear. Can anyone tell me how to rectify this?
