    Automatic Thick Border

    Hello everyone,

I am making an excel page consisting of projects that have no limit, meaning I will add on a daily basis 2 or more columns or rows. As of right now I have 5 rows and 5 columns and have it surrounded by a thick border, my question is; Is it possible to adjust excel for it to expand the border automatically as I add more and more rows/columns without me having to manually delete the border and make it again?

    Thanks in advance

You might be able to use Conditional Formatting.

    Let's take A1 for example.
    Select A1

    Conditional Formatting
    New Rule
    Use a formula to determine...

    =(A1<>"")
Format as required with a thick border.

Use Format painter (paintbrush icon) to copy to other cells

As soon as data is entered it will have a thick border.
This prob won't solve your problem but is a step nearer.
You need to decide what will indicate to Excel that you have 2 or more rows filled.

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

Format the Rows and Columns as a table
And make a new table style

Thanks, it seems to work perfect. How do you set it up? I am still learning.

    Re: Automatic Thick Border

You find 'new table style' under
'Home' 'styles' and 'Format as Table'
