    copy and paste without drag and drop

    For example, lets say I have value 10 and 20 in E1 and E3 cell. And when I select E1 to E4 and drag the selection downward I get 30, 40, 50 in the similar manner. I want to do this without drag and drop because my downward selection range would be large.

    I want to copy the selection E1 to E4 and then select E5 to say E1000(ctrl+shift+down to E1000) to paste like drag and drop.

    Thank you.

    Select the range and press Alt+E+I+S and change the Step Value to your desired Incremental Value and Press Ok

    I don't think that will work correctly if we assume that E2 and E4 are to remain empty.

    However, if one of the adjacent columns is already populated down to row 1000 then selecting E1:E4 and double clicking the fill handle to autofill will work the same as dragging.

    Re: copy and paste without drag and drop

    E1=10
    E3=20
    E5=30
    Then select FROM E2:E1000
    Then Home > Fill > Series >
    Then select Autofill under Type
    Press OK

    Or
    E1=10
    E3=20 and try below formula in E4 and copy towards down

    =IF(E3="",E2+10,"")

    Good one, Siva

    I tried a couple of methods that didn't work, hence my earlier reply to SixthSense.

    I think it is worth pointing out here that the key to making it work correctly is starting the fill range from the first empty cell, not the first value.
