    Linked spreadsheets - auto udpate?

Sorry to keep posting today, but having problems setting a new spreadsheet up.

I have a master workbook, that is going to be linked to several sheets. Do the books which are linked need to be saved before an update can take place? Or is there a way I can get them to auto update every time a change is made?

    Many thanks

As long as your worksheets are set to 'Auto Calculate' in the 'File, 'Options, 'Formula settings then any changes made within your workbook will update automatically.

Re: Linked spreadsheets - auto udpate?

Hi there - I have gone into this and it is definitely showing as automatic, yet it will only update on start up

Does it matter that on sheet 2 in book 1, the cell has an average formula in ie Average of cells a1:a10, and then then in book 2, where I have the links, its not updating. If I save both books, and close book 2 down, and reopen, it asks if I want it to update, and I say yes, it will then update. After this it will not update at all. Is there any code I can write to link to a button to do a manual update (also F9 does not refresh the sheet).

If I do this on a new spreadsheet, it will link them, so wondering if anything on ato refresh I could have disabled (apart from the suggestion above which I have already checked and is definitely on automatic updates
