Hello,
I've created a drop down list in Excel and I'm looking to label it "Make a Selection" instead of leaving the cell blank. Is there anyway to do this? I've included a sample excel document if that is helpful. Thanks in advance!

Hi Excel_1234,
Define your range named "Letter" from "A1:A5" and make "Make a Selection" the value in "A1". Then choose the pulldown and choose "Make a Selection" and it will remain that value until somebody changes it. I'm not aware of a way to make a dropdown choose a specific value automatically without using VBA.
Hope that helps,
Dan
Sounds like you just want that cell to get "noticed" by users so they'll make the appropriate selection?
How about in cell C1 you put: Make Selection Below
Maybe even highlight the cell with a fill color?
You could even use a combo box that has the drop arrow always visible (but a data validation drop down list is much easier to deal with!!!).
