I can't seem to figure out why the color scale isn't working for some cells in this workbook. For instance, A7 should be red/orange and it is green.
1. Include a sample workbook with an example of the result you want
2. Use [CODE] and [FORMULA] wrappers for your VBA code or excel formulas

Go to conditional formatting | manage rules and delete the various rules you have there for cells in that column. Next, click on the A to select the whole of the A column, then go to conditional formatting and select colour scales - select the green - amber - red icon. All done.

Maybe you have too many rules, change it to just column A

That seems to have done the trick! Any idea why excel gets confused with multiple of the same rule?
I assume the a color scale should interpolate a value/color based on relative position in the range of values

Conditional Formatting | Color Scales | Red - Yellow - Green Color Scale
Data range 11700 to 35600.
Two sets of numbers within that range
different color for the value 22635 depending on other vales in the range!
