Extending amount of numbers in a column

Hi! I'm going to do a study where I need monthly share prices of US stock market and monthly GDP. The problem is that I don't have the monthly GDP, it is only yearly. I wonder if I somehow can extend the GDP numbers so that they match the share prices for that year.

For example: I have GDP; 2000 = 1 000 000 and 2001 = 1 100 000.

While I have share price; 2000.01 = 2, 2000.02 = 2.5, 2000.03 = 2.8 ... 2001.12 = 4

I want to make the 1 000 000 GDP number to be on the same row as every share price during the year 2000. Do I have to type it in manually or do you know if there is a quicker way?

You can do this using a VLOOKUP table: list the years in one column and the GDP in the column next to it, then use this reference table array in a VLOOKUP query.

=VLOOKUP(lookup_value,lookup_array,column_number,lookup_type)
